The Reverend Mike Scott spills all and tells why he became an online ordained minister and the personal and spiritual rewards his ordination has brought him. Continue reading →

I’ve always been a person for Do It Yourself, I’ve also always been a bit of a cheapskate. My brother was coming up to get married so I decided to get an online ordination as a minister in order to officiate his wedding ceremony. We had the wedding in the park behind my apartment. My mother and father were both there, along with my sisters and brothers. There were also a couple members of the bride’s family who chose to attend. It was nice seeing her brother clean himself up so much and dress so nicely to attend his older sisters wedding.

The biggest surprise was the best man, while everyone else was dressed in semi-formal attire; and I in my make shift minister’s vestments, there he was standing with his big cowboy hat and tight jeans. It was quite an assortment of folks. The wonderful part about it also was the sunny weather that we had that day.

Before the wedding I was really nervous and had gone through a million things that I wanted to say for the ceremony. After all this was my first public appearance as an ordained minister. I had thought of a hundred different was to start out and had searched online for what things to include in the ceremony. I ultimately decided to start out with using a couple of lines from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast to welcome everybody to the ceremony.

After I started talking it felt natural, the nervousness dissipated and the ceremony went very well. It turns out I have natural talent for being a minister. They all thanked me for having such a wonderful ceremony afterwards. Preparing the paperwork for the wedding and sending it in afterwards was a cinch, no problems at all.

If given the opportunity to officiate at another wedding I wouldn’t hesitate, they are so much fun. The best part is seeing how happy my brother and his new wife were when they were married and getting to say the infamous line, “You may kiss the bride.” I’ll never forget their faces and the tears that roll down their eyes. My mother was crying for joy to see her son married.

I’ll never regret taken the little time to do an online ordination, it really is a wonderful thing. It was trouble free, quick and easy. Millions of people hold online ordinations. The exact number can only be guessed because there are so many different religious organizations involved. If you are wondering if you should be ordained online, then you should know you will be keeping great company

I keep the ordination certificate around my office to remind me of that event and also just in case someone else I know needs a minister or pastor to perform another ceremony. It feels good to be able to tell others that I am an ordained minister and that I have the authority invested in me to perform this wonderful act that binds humans together while on this Earth.

The Reverend Mike Scott is ordained as minister by the Church of Spiritual Humanism.
